
Team Member, King Abdullah Initiative for Agro-Investment Abroad, Ministry of Commerce and Industry
Eng. Taha Alshareef is a Team Member of the King Abdullah Initiative for Agro-Investment Abroad within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Eng. Alshareef joined the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 2006 as the Assistant Director General of Foreign Trade. In this role, he managed many of the exchanges between Saudi Arabia and international organizations and events, such as the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Joint Commission Meetings, and the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Trade and Investment Framework Agreement. In 2009, he was appointed Senior Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Commerce for Foreign Trade.
Eng. Alshareef has represented Saudi Arabia in a number of roles. He joined the Ministry of PTT in 1983 as Assistant General Manager of the Madinah Region and later served as the General Manager of Technical Affairs for the region from 1991-1999. In between that time, he represented Saudi Arabia at the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (INTELSAT) from 1987-1990. In early 2000, he was appointed Assistant General Manager for the Transformation Program Office, the department that oversees the privatization of the Saudi Telecom Company. In this capacity, he worked with consulting companies, such as Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc., PricewaterhouseCoopers, J. P. Morgan, and Telcordia Technologies.
Based in Riyadh, Eng. Alshareef has been a Member of IEEE since 1983 and was on the planning committees for the U.S.-Saudi Business Opportunities Forum.
