Dr. Mohammad Abdulaziz Al-Ohali currently serves as Deputy Minister for Educational Affairs for the Ministry of Higher Education.
Previous positions include Project Manager of the National Project: “Saudi Arabia Higher Education Strategic Planning”; Project Manager of Saudi E- University; Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM); Basic and Applied Research Coordinator at the Research Institute at KFUPM; Professional Training in R&D Management and Policy, as well as Strategic Planning and Management for profit and non-profit organizations. In addition, Dr. Al-Ohali has over 20 years of teaching graduate, undergraduate, and short courses for the Physics Department at KFUPM, as well as substantive consulting experience in Science, Research and Technology Centers. He is also an expert in training in the areas of education, learning strategies and development, and self-development skills.
Research interests include Physics, Reaction, and Applied Techniques; Astronomy and Astrophysics; Education and Science Policy and Planning; Academic-Industry Relation (Science and Research Park); Science Education, and Learning Strategies; and Strategic Planning. Dr. Al-Ohali was involved as Task Leader and Member in several funded national and international projects and was Principal Investigator of a Review of Science Curriculum for Grades K-12 for the Kingdom. He has written over 42 articles, 22 of which were published in international journals and over 20 in conference proceedings, and has authored a book on learning strategies and skills.
Dr. Al-Ohali is an active member of the American Physical Society and the Health Physics Society. He is also a Senior Scientific Advisor/Consultant and Conceptual and Strategic Planner for Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Science Center, KFUPM Representative for Collaborative Program with International Universities, and Conceptual and Strategic Planner for KFUPM Scientific Park (PASP).
Dr. Al-Ohali is the recipient of a number of academic honors and awards; reviewer of journal and conference papers; involved in numerous MS and PhD theses; has delivered presentations at international conferences/seminars; and was selected in the 4th Edition of “Who’s Who in Science and Engineering” in December 1999. He was also recognized as a Distinguished Faculty member at KFUPM for 12 consecutive years.
Dr. Mohammad Abdulaziz Al-Ohali received both his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in 1982, his Master of Science degree in Physics from KFUPM in 1986, and his PhD in Physics from Duke University, North Carolina, USA in 1993.
